Acrobat X Pro allows Adobe Reader users to use the typewriter tools. PDF documents with the Typewriter tool enabled, you can use Adobe Reader to put text annotations in the PDF file.

Note: We do not recommend enabling this feature on PDF files that contain interactive forms. If you enable the Typewriter tool on a PDF file that contains an interactive form, you will not be able to enter data in the form fields from Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

  1. Open the PDF file for which you want to enable the typewriter tool.
  2. Choose Tools> Typewriter> Enable Typewriter Tools in Adobe Reader.
  3. In the Save As dialogue box, specify a file name and location, and click Save.
  4. A purple bar appears at the top of the document, stating, “This PDF can be typed using the typewriter tool.” If you open it in Adobe Reader, the bar will be displayed as well.
